A new vocational program will be available for students at The Howard School, thanks to a grant from the Tennessee Department of Education.
The school has purchased about $50,000 worth of new equipment for the career technical institute.
The grant comes from Governor Bill Lee's Innovative School Models (ISM) program, which awarded $530-million to schools across Tennessee.
The goal of the ISM program is to help students find new jobs.
“We are focusing on educating and moving our students to the next level and helping provide them with new jobs and new opportunities in the community,” said Eloy Vento, a teacher at The Howard School’s architecture and construction institute.
