Mercedes-Benz workers from the Tuscaloosa, Alabama, plant announced that they will launch a public campaign to join the United Auto Workers union, with reportedly over 30% of the plant's workforce signing union authorization cards.
The union created a video about the campaign.
Officials reported that over the last three years, Mercedes-Benz's profits increased by 200%, earning them $156 billion, while U.S. employee pay stayed the same.
Employees are speaking up about their experiences. Moesha Chandler, an assembly team member, told the UAW, "If we had the union, we’d feel more protected, more at ease. We wouldn’t feel like a gazelle to a lion.”
