UPDATE: Chattanooga police have arrested a man in connection to an almost two-year-old homicide.

Police say 26-year-old Sadik Spence is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Omar Escobar at his home on N. Willow Street in October of 2021.

Escobar’s family was home when they heard gunfire, and then found him dead on their front doorstep.

Spence is charged with first degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

He is being held at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center on $250,000 bond.

Spence is scheduled to appear in court on October 10.

PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Police Homicide Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying a homicide suspect that left a 20-year-old man dead in September.

20-year-old Omar Escobar was shot and killed outside his home in the 500 block of North Willow Street just before midnight on September 27, 2021.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest the victim and suspect knew each other.

During the investigation process, investigators obtained information that the suspect is believed to be a man appearing in video footage and photos obtained by police. 

CPD says the suspect appears to be a younger black male between 5'08" to 6'0" in height with a medium/stocky build. He was wearing a very identifiable yellow and green hoodie at the time of the incident.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $1000 for information that helps identify the suspect.

 

PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga police are again investigating a deadly shooting in the city.

The latest shooting happened Monday night at about 11:48pm in the 500 block of North Willow Street.

Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a person shot.

Once officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

CPD investigators learned that the man was standing outside on North Willow Street when he was shot by an unknown suspect.
