UPDATE: Georgia's school voucher bill passed in the house on Thursday and is now heading to the state senate.

The voucher program would provide funds for students to attend private schools.

The vote was 92-82.

Some lawmakers are concerned it would take funding from public schools that are already struggling.

It's unclear when the senate will hold a vote on the bill.

According to GBPI, the General Assembly is exploring the option of taking taxpayer funds from public schools and switching them to private institutions.

The press call revealed that most people are against switching the funding plan and don't want taxpayer dollars to be used for anything else.
