Horsing Around season six premieres with one of the hottest teams in the Chattanooga Area. The Silverdale boys’ basketball team is off to a 18-1 start to the season. They won 17 games in-a-row before Sports Director Ben Bobick brought in the broadcaster’s jinx.
Featured is senior Brett Wright. Wright has been a mainstay on the Seahawks team these last few years. He’s been apart of this team’s road to the top as they look to continue to make history.
Wright signed to play college basketball at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville next year. The Trojans are a Division-II program just getting started. Wright is excited to become apart of a team trying to put their school on the map in the college basketball world.
As for his high school team, they boast one of the tallest lineups in the area. Wright, who’s 6’6, says just about everyone in the starting five is over six feet.
Silverdale is getting ready for the bulk of their district schedule. A district filled with teams who have had recent postseason success. Boyd-Buchanan made a run to the elite eight a few years ago while Notre Dame was a state runner-up just last year. The Seahawks hope to use that as fuel to their fire as they trend in the right direction.
Wright also boasts some of the best hair for a basketball player. During some highlights of their games from last year, Ben used to say he had “top notch lettuce,” in reference to his curly hair. The nickname inspired Wright’s family to make shirts with his face on it along with “top notch lettuce.”
The Seahawks are on quite the journey but they know they have a long way to go. The team is trying to stay hungry as they look to make school history this season.
