Harrison Elementary students celebrated Black History Month by hosting their annual wax museum.
Third grade students take on a role every year to teach the community about historic figures from activists and politicians, to athletes and musicians.
Students were chosen to participate in the fall and have put lots of time into their rehearsal.
"Usually from about December on, we're pulling kids every day, or every other day, to make this happen," said Molly Gadd who is an instructional math coach at the school.
Ashton Custer is a third grade student who was selected to portray Martin Luther King Jr. for the wax museum. He said students put in a lot of time practicing both at school and at home.
Gadd said she could feel the confidence in the room from her students.
"That made me feel really good, that we helped get them prepared, but the effort was in their hands," Gadd said. "It's been a beautiful experience!"
Gadd said it's always important to recognize important people throughout history.
"I'm glad that kids get to be a part of that at such an early age," Gadd said. "I hope they feel a lot of love and celebration today, but also I want them to take away how powerful these people were and the impact that they left. I hope one day that they're on these posters as well!"
