UPDATE: Threat against Orchard Knob Middle School continues to be investigated as students were dismissed

UPDATE: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says that Orchard Knob Middle School remained in a secure protocol through the day, until students were dismissed at 2:00 pm.

The sheriff's office says they are working with other law enforcement partners to continuing investigating the threat against the school.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says Orchard Knob Middle School is currently on hold with all students in their classrooms.

A "hold" is the first step for law enforcement in the standard response protocol. Students are trained to clear hallways, do business as usual, and remain in their room until cleared by police. Staff is trained to close and lock all doors, account for all people in the building, and continue as usual. 

The sheriff's office is working with other law enforcement to investigate a threat, and be on site as a precaution.

School officials say they will communicate with parents when more information is available.
