UPDATE: Hamilton County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Justin Robertson delivered his State of the System address covering the achievement of Hamilton County Students.

Last year, Dr. Robertson introduced his strategic plan, Opportunity 2030, with a commitment to improve learning outcomes.

He says every school showed progress in some way.

"We're outpacing the state in 22 academic categories, and we're in the top third," said Dr. Robertson.

This is an improvement from 2015 numbers when Hamilton County outpaced the state in only two academic areas and was in the bottom third for student growth.

Howard School and East Lake are among seven schools removed from the priority list. Those on the list scored below 5% on TCAP.

"Unprecedented rate in the State of Tennessee," said Dr. Sonia Stewart, Deputy Superintendent. "No one else has done this. No district has accelerated students off the priority list."

Robertson says the district is following through on its promise to improve school facilities, working with county leaders to get the job done.

"The future of who we are really just reflects what we're going to invest in our students today," said Wamp.

The project will redevelop seven schools and close four facilities.

Robertson says there is a long way to go as they work to achieve goals.

He says everyone played a part in the district's overall success.

"So what we're saying with our values, we're going to live those out day by day," said Dr. Robertson. "And those habits are going to reflect those values and that eventually are going to drive our commitments."

Hamilton County Schools seniors earned, more than 128-million dollars in scholarships, that's 50% more from 2015.
